Privacy policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026

The short version. The tools run inside your browser. Microphone audio is never recorded or transmitted. We collect an email address only if you type one into a form. Advertising and analytics may be provided by third parties that use cookies or similar technologies.

What this covers

This policy applies to gelvinguitars.com and any subdomain of it. It is written to be read, not to be defensible in court, if you need something more formal for a specific jurisdiction, ask.

Information you give us

  • Contact form. Your name, email address and message. Used to reply to you. Kept until the conversation is finished, then deleted.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. The web server records the requested page, timestamp, referring page, browser user-agent and IP address. These are used for security and for fixing broken pages. Logs are rotated and deleted on a short cycle.
  • Analytics. Aggregate page-view statistics, so we know which guides are worth expanding.
  • Advertising. Third-party ad networks may set cookies or similar identifiers to select and measure ads. This is described below.

What the tools don't do

The tuner requests microphone permission so your browser can analyze pitch locally. No audio is recorded, stored, uploaded or transmitted anywhere, the analysis happens on your device and the result is drawn on screen. The same is true of every other tool on the site: they run entirely client-side and send nothing back.

Advertising

This site may use third-party advertising services, including Google AdSense, to help pay for its operation. Advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies to select, display and measure ads.

Where required by law, visitors will be given appropriate privacy or consent choices through the advertising provider's consent management system. Those choices may affect whether personalized or non-personalized advertising is shown.

You can manage Google's advertising preferences through Google's Ad Settings. Additional information about Google's advertising and privacy practices is available through Google's privacy and advertising resources.

Sharing

We don't sell personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the site, the ad network, the analytics provider and the email delivery service, and only to the extent they need it to do their job.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to the address on the contact page and it will be done. If you're in the EEA or UK you have these rights under the GDPR; if you're in California, under the CCPA. We apply them to everyone regardless of where you live, because maintaining two standards is more work than maintaining one.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and it'll be removed.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and a notice appears on the homepage for a fortnight.
